So, someone on my timeline was complaining about this Buzzfeed quiz they were taking called "Which Miyazaki Character are You?" because they kept getting Princess Sheeta and wanted to get someone 'cool' like Princess Mononoke or Lady Eboshi. So I decided to take it. Halfway through I'd decided the quiz was bullshit and a bit racist/xenophobic, but I decided that since I was already halfway through to just stick with it.

Haircut - April 7, 2014, 5:00

Been busy helping my friend find internship/shadow opportunities/career advice today. Going to eat veggies and hummus while watching the last two episodes of Teen Wolf. Need to get coins for laundry. I really want a nice laundry hamper/sorter system. There are some nice basket systems, but I want lids, so that the smell is contained.

Then there's Pottery Barn and antique shops and other even more expensive options. I need to get a job. Feeling better now. Going to order my textbooks. Hopefully I can get them all from the library. Still need to make a few more awkward phone calls to relatives to help my friend. Then going to do a face peel.

Just angry cleaned the kitchen. I'm so sick of having to take all the dishes out of the dishwasher, scrub them, and then put them back into the dishwasher in an organized manner. I need to have a talk with my roommates about scrubbing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and not overloading the dishwasher. I do not want any more of my dishes being chipped. I do not want to reach into the cupboard and find food encrusted on dishes because they could not take the time to scrub the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.

Whiteboard
1. Scrub the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.
2. Do not overload the dishwasher. I do not want my dishes getting chipped. Also, water needs room to get up and clean the dishes, which will not happen when they are on top of each other.
3. When you spill, wipe it up. I do not want crumbs and stickiness on the counter anymore.
4. When you use the stove, wet a paper towel or sponge with white vinegar to clean up the oil, preferably before the stove cools down when it is easier to clean.

I'll probably omit some of the why's on the whiteboard and just stick with the do's, so that I don't get people saying it's not their fault that my dishes are chipped or that I'm making a big deal over nothing. I can just tell them the why's if they ask. I also don't want them to feel like I'm talking down to them. I just want a clean kitchen. I don't care why it wasn't clean before, do it now.

I'm going to try doing the dishes more often now, and I'll leave the trash to my roommates. I'll probably still have to do the dusting, since they don't seem to think that's necessary. But if I could just get a clean kitchen, my life would be a lot easier.

B - the harder they come soundtrack .... poster?..dvd?

J - sci-fi written by a woman or feminist friendly sci-fi. ask in next book post

Also, find out zodiac info. Maybe buy zodiac book for Mom for Mother's Day, but then, maybe I should get her the next season of The Bletchley Circle.

Just finished vacuuming my room and switched out the vacuum bag.
Woke up and watched the Olympics Men's Figure Skating Short Program.
Commented about ONTD.
Read this post: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/85692126.html and tweeted tons about him, so hopefully one of my 17 followers will be inspired to look him up and spread his story.
Rediscovered Florrie thanks to this post: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/85694307.html#comments
Shared a story on Facebook about how now there are more options for gender, like trans, for profile info.

Sill have to do:

-laundry
-groceries (Safeway edition)
-take out trash
-clean bathroom
-shower
-make hair appointment
-order products to reduce acne scar visibility
-make car appointment to get lights changed
-buy jeans
-buy foundation and angled brush
-call J back

I stayed up a bit too late last night, so I have to make sure to go to bed on time tonight. Skating starts at 7:00am tomorrow. Also, I bought this trash can the other day, and I'm super happy with it. The lid's really convenient, because I can set stuff on top of it, and not worry about knocking things I don't want into the trash. I don't use it for food waste cause I don't want my room to smell, just things like Kleenix and pencil shavings. You can tell I'm no longer a teen by the fact that this is something I think is interesting. Anyway, I wanted to buy a laundry hamper or sorter as well, but all the nice ones were like $50, so I'm going to try to find a deal online. If I can't get a wooden one, I'll probably buy this and then something like this to hold delicates and items that need to go to the launders. I also need to buy a wardrobe or dresser. I'm thinking about just buying another bookcase to use instead, but I'm undecided. Can't wait to live in a larger place.

I really like what she has to say about not adhering to the +0 sizing if you find it makes you uncomfortable. Remember +0 is a starting point. Women with heavier breasts need tighter, more supportive bands than women with smaller, firmer breasts. I have to have a discussion with my roommate about how she cannot borrow my car without my permission just because she thinks I'm not going to use it. She's not on the insurance. It's one thing if she needs it for her volunteering or a family emergency, it's another to take it without permission - especially when it's only for a date. I need my car. I had plans to go get it fixed and run errands that aren't within walking distance. The tires are running low; the turn signals need new bulbs. This is really not okay.

Also, it's just really presumptuous. I'm going to try my best not to borrow any of her food, even with permission, to show her that if I can respect her boundaries, she can respect mine. This is the second or third time she's done this, and she knows she needs to ask me permission to borrow my car. Just telling me that she has a date isn't enough to inform me that she'd like to borrow my car. So she's in a long-distance relationship, it's not so far that she can't take the bus. Or her partner could take a bus or borrow a car from someone instead. But she can't just use it without my permission.

Ugh, I'm kinda stressed about it though, because I'm afraid that N, my other roommate, is going to back up L. But maybe not. Maybe she'll be logical and won't just side with the person she's closer to.

This is all wank with no release. I'll tell you how it goes.
exileinguyville: (Default)
Today I need to do:

-Dishes
-Vacuum
-Figure out what to do with the paper bags (recycle to be honest)
-Make advising appointment (may have to wait til Monday if not open)
-Ask Mom where I can get my tires filled
-Ask Mom to help me get my car's lights replaced (right blinker out, left dying)
-put clothes to give away in closet
-fold and put whites away
-sort through mags to recycle
-possibly buy new bookcase
-sort through clothes to give away
-dust

Do all this while listening to Throwing Shade or Welcome to Night Vale or Hyphenated-Lives.

Also, I caught up on SNK, and I am SO upset at Reiner and Bertholdt. Ymir and Krista/Historia are in grey spots for me right now. I really want to know more about Levi and Erwin's relationship. Until cannon proves otherwise, they are boyfriends. Although, now I'm leaning towards unrequited love, Levi->Erwin, though I don't want that to be why Levi joined the Scouting Legion. I love Jean and Armin's friendship. I'm really glad I didn't get into this manga right away, because it feels like one of those series that's best to read after at least the first arc is out because there's so much information that has to be revealed, especially with the world building, that it can be confusing. Still need to watch the anime. Also need to watch the last episode of Free!. I keep putting it off, but with a new special out, I really need to catch up.

Also still have to watch Sherlock Season 3, Doctor Who - 9 and 10, and the last half of that space cowboy show that's not Cowboy Bebop or anime. Also need to catch up on The Daily Show with John Stewart.

I'm probably going to end up watching a lot of classic British/American geek shows just because my friends like them and not because I want to. I definitely prefer E4 shows like My Mad Fat Diary and Skins or American teen shows like the O.C. or Freaks and Geeks. I wonder how Teen Wolf is doing this season? Maybe I'll watch it after all.... Also need to check out AHS: Coven and finish watching The Thick of It and then watch In the Loop.

But let's be honest, I'll probably do a couple chores while listening to Throwing Shade and then spend the rest of the nigh on tumblr and ONTD.
exileinguyville: (Default)
Catch up on SNK manga. Maybe Hirunaka no Ryuusei? Listen to all the Pop Queen's albums. I don't know how it happened, but I started listening to Katy Perry's Teenage Dream last night, and now I'm listening to Britney's Circus. I haven't been in the mood for pop music in forever, but I'm here for it. Maybe I'll pick up Beyonce's album at Starbucks today.

Still have to:

- grab laundry from dryer
- make advising appointment
- buy textbooks
- grocery shop
- get boots from parents
- shower
- make hair appointment
- spend 20 mins organizing room, putting clothes away

exileinguyville: (Default)
I ended up getting everyone books, save 2 of my brothers who got the gift of not having to get me a gift. I still need to get gifts for my roommates.

More worrisome, school starts up again next week, so I have to finish reading SNK before, so that I'm not all distracted when I'm supposed to be doing homework. I also have to get caught up on chores, mostly laundry, so that I'll have clothes to wear Monday.

Also, need to get my hair cut and possibly buy foundation. Make advising appointment, buy books (and notebooks/folders) for class. Go through clothes and sell/give away. (Or at least store in large closet)

Going to listen to an episode of Throwing Shade Podcast and go to bed by 11:00.

Maybe I'll get L Clementine poetry or that one Russian book of poetry (Yevtushenko). Thinking to get N a mix-tape or a book.

L - poetry book
N - mix tape

B - posters & cd/mix-tape
J - book (pref. feminist sc-fi/fantasy), idk
M - video game points? music? matt and kim? idk

mom - taylor swift red cd
step - ??? diet free coke

a - uglies series (check to see if read)
j - ??? share uglies series?, idk

grandma - ???
aunt - ???
uncle - ???
exileinguyville: (Default)
Yes!!!!! Sky Ferreira finally came out with a physical cd. I'm so excited to buy it! Though, I have to wait until I figure out what I'm getting my family for Christmas.

How many people do I have to get gifts for?
1. Mom
2. Step-dad
3. Grandma
4. Uncle
5. Aunt
6. Cousin 1 - Uglies series (split with sister?)
7. Cousin 2
8. Bro 1 - posters?
9. Bro 2 - les mis?
10. Bro 3 - video game points? i'd prefer something cheaper....
11. L
12. N

Gift ideas?

-used books
-mix-tape
-nice novelty chocolates

Problem with those two ideas is that I don't know what books to get people or what music to suggest to others. I think I'll definitely do mix-tapes for L and N - possibly Bros too.
I wish I was better at taking pictures, then I could do a photo album.

I also need black skinny jeans, tights - black, grey, brown; a new leather purse, flats, and ankle boots.

Buy Sky Ferreira's Album: http://www.myplaydirect.com/sky-ferreira/night-time-my-time-collector-s-bundle/details/29080754

My roommate, L, makes videos with her sister on youtube in a vlogbrothers brotherhood2.0 style.

Hawaii by The Strokes is really not allowing me to express my frustration right now. Switched to Babyshambles Down in Albion.

I really like her sister's videos because she usually gives a life update or just shows footage of places she's visiting in France, but L is so annoying because she always tries to be deep and give meaning to her mundane activities, which alright, fine whatever, but she puts on this really annoying teacher voice that sounds really fake, but then she also sounds really unsure of herself, and it's just exasperating to watch. I'd just not, but then she'd get hurt if she brought it up and I said I hadn't watched it and would then make me watch it in front of her, and then I'd have to hide my expressions so she wouldn't see how painful I find it.

She's also started dating a 17-year-old. Her best friends are 18 and 19 respectively, and she keeps making friends with their friends, so she just ends up hanging out with teenagers when she isn't with N and me. ( We're 21.) I mean, they're in Running Start, so at least they aren't high schoolers, but it's still awkward when I meet someone and assume they're 19/20 and then find out that they're 17/18. I know 4 years isn't that large an age gap, but L will have her Masters after this year.

I think the reason why my roommates rub me the wrong way so often is 'cause they talk about how mature they are compared to others our age. I might not be pursuing a Masters or finishing college in 4 years, but at least I don't have illusions of maturity. We're not better than others just because we don't get fucked up every weekend and thirsty Thursday.

IDK. Maybe they want to align themselves with a clique (nerds) because they went to such large schools where there were enough people to have cliche cliques. My school had less than 200 students, so we were all forced to interact with each other. Maybe that led to us not stereotyping each other as much? Like, we still had groups, but there was a lot of crossover.

I personally don't identify as a nerd. Yeah, I like anime and manga and reading, but that doesn't make me some sort of outcast or better than others. Also, it's pretty weird to take pride in disliking sports. I'm not a huge fan of sports, but I don't think that they're pointless the way L and N do, never mind that sports can provide community bonding experiences and chances for exercise. Sure, some of sports culture is seriously messed up, but you could say the same for the music and arts world they love. (though I feel it would just go in one ear and out the other with lots of defenses about how art uses the brain and sports are stupid)

Oh! Speaking of manga, I started getting into it again and am so happy I did. For some reason, I just couldn't get it in me to read anything. I'll do a manga post soon of what I'm reading and planning to read. I hope this also means that I'll get back into anime soon, though lately all tv watching has been too passive for me. Like, even when I want to watch something I get restless and end up pausing to go on tumblr or ONTD.

The Strokes - Hawaii

Babyshambles - Down in Albion

exileinguyville: (Default)
I didn't originally have it listed, but I also went grocery shopping today. 11/20/13
Still need to make a run to the other store for bread and tea.

-call dermatologist
-haircut
-finish cleaning room
-dust
-vacuum
-organise
-take out trash
-shower
-exercise/dance for 20-30 min
-do laundry
-change bed sheets
-buy foundation
-buy hula hoop
-finish watching star wars
-start doctor who
(my roommate's so upset at me. i made her watch teen wolf, yet i haven't watch who for her. i don't even
like teen wolf any more. season 3 ruined the show for me. i miss the camp.)

Cleaning's really great for feeling accomplished until you notice a different area of your place needs fixing. Or when you let things build up, or you have to clean up after your roommates. the worst is when i have to redo chores because they didn't do it right. (please, please scrub the dishes before loading the dishwasher, or they will come out unclean.) it's really frustrating to live with people who make fun of me for wanting things to be cleaned a certain way. i know, be thankful that they do anything.

exileinguyville: (Default)
So, planning on buying Sky Ferreira's Night Time, My Time Premium Bundle and Babyshambles' 7". I also need to buy their new album still. I put off doing it 'cause I wasn't sure which version to get, and my local didn't have it in stock to decide for me.

Sky Ferreira: http://www.myplaydirect.com/sky-ferreira

Babyshambles: http://www.thestereoboutique.com/eu/s/babyshambles/54331?intcmp=131024%2Fbshambles%2Fplg%2Fhp%2Fs_pr%2Fbut%2Fbdy%2Feu%2Fsocial

http://babyshambles.net/sequel-to-the-prequel/

I've also been listening to Azelia Bank's VENUS:

and MIA's "Bring The Noize":

The Halloween Birthday Party went well last night. I woke up to the apartment clean, though I'll have to check the dishes in the dishwasher because my roommates never scrub them, and our dishwasher is old, and I don't like reaching into the cupboards to find dishes that still have food on them. I wish they would just leave their dishes in the sink if they aren't going to scrub them. Saves less work in the long run.
But that aside, I don't know why my roommate was worrying. The party went just fine, and we had too much food like we always do. I'm not looking forward to paying my roommate back for the alcohol, since I don't drink, but I want drama less, so I'll probably just fork it over.

Also, in the Halloween spirit, I've been listening to Dead Man's Bones again.
